I’ve been with ChOptus* for 20+ years. In that time I’ve only had a few occassions to contact them for support, yet every time it was a nightmare. The instructions on their website contradicts what you acutally have to do. Avoid their Help chat at all costs! They are located outside Australia (India, Philipines so far) & have no idea outside of their script on how to deal with anything. Your customer service is so bad now its not worth ringing anymore! Every person that answers is Indian and I feel like I am being scammed!
I have just been asked to pay $2 with credit card details for Optus to answer my question, all I wanted was to find out how to upgrade my plan because I was told they no longer support my old plan so have stopped providing me with signal. I am switching to another provider that gives decent customer service.
I spent a whole afternoon on phone to get my issues sorted out. I talked with 6 people in total, but none of them can fix it……I’m moving back to Vodafone. Don’t waste time with Optus, you will always find a better provider easily.
Have been with Optus for 5 years, but recently, I consider to move to another service provider. The customer service has just been worse and worse. More and more frequently drops out and lose connection. So disappointed with Optus.
Disappointing download and upload speed. No connection in rural Melbourne.No human assistance, just automated message. Seriously, never choose Optus!
OPTUS – Completely APPALLING customer service. In the full meaning of this word. For many, many weeks I try to solve an issue with NONE EXISTENT service. Neither the first level service, non customer retention, not case manager is able to solve, not communicate. I can back it will extensive record evidence. If I could I would give -5 stars. AVOID.
The WORST company I have ever experienced. Extremely poor coverage, disconnect in most of the areas in Sydney. The customer service agent was so rude, the staff hung up on me. Very disappointing! I will never use Optus again.

One star is more than what I would like to give them. Poorest customer service ever. They are unhelpful, disrespectful and do not consider the customer. It’s just a nightmare every time I contact them for sorting out a problem. I will leave them immediately once my contract ends.
After switched to them, I found that I had nothing but limitations and hassles on their service. I regretted deciding to give them a go. It took ONE WEEK to port from my previous carrier. And for some unknown reasons, I cannot open the Optus app on my phone and there was no other channel for me to recharge. It really freaked me out!!!! No Wi-Fi calling, no VoLTE (calls over 3G only), unable to set up a voicemail…… The Worst decision ever……
Recently, I noticed that I was overcharged by Optus for three months. I asked them to look into my account but they refused and told me just to pay the bill. Very unhappy with Optus!
I had some problems with the internet since Optus claims they are undergoing an upgrade to my nearby tower in July this year. My 3G connection started dropping from a few times a day to frequently and then cannot browse any Internet. Optus said that they were investigating and trying their best to resolve it. However, their promise did not make it better. Moreover, my 4G connection went wrong after that……
Worst coverage in regional Sydney, cannot get a signal at all. Disappointed as a 5-year Optus customer. Consider to change another provider.
Absolute crap! They always get the bill completely incorrect and overcharge you. You then spend weeks chasing up the incorrect charges they took that they had no right to take.
Optus app very straightforward and easy to use and I appreciate that I can clearly see how I’m using my data and how much I’ve used. And the customer service of Optus is always good.
Network has improved greatly, there used to be some problems with coverage but as time gone on it has been much better. The 24/7 live chat is a great thing to have, every single person I have dealt with in there has been very helpful an informative.
I’ve been using Optus for nearly two years, and Optus‘s connectivity and network has been great. I have been using a prepaid plan which costs about $55 per month but the data provided is more than enough for my excess use of the social media but I love the extra data I have left every month since it is rolled over to the next month. I am very satisfied with the service provided by Optus.
