About Independent vs Shared sites: Optus and TPG share some physical tower infrastructure under the Optus-TPG MOCN (Mobile Operator Core Network) agreement. An Independent site is a tower that carrier operates entirely on its own. A Shared site is a physical tower where both Optus and TPG can run mobile services — each carrier may operate different frequency bands on the same tower. The total site count includes both independent and shared sites, with each physical location counted once.
Note: All comparison charts and tables below use independent sites only for a fair head-to-head comparison. Shared sites are labelled +N MOCN in the state coverage table.
