I’ve been with ChOptus* for 20+ years. In that time I’ve only had a few occassions to contact them for support, yet every time it was a nightmare.
The instructions on their website contradicts what you acutally have to do.
Avoid their Help chat at all costs! They are located outside Australia (India, Philipines so far) & have no idea outside of their script on how to deal with anything. No matter who or what your inquiry is about, you will get a 15 minute run around to get to the point of your call. That’s if the call hasn’t dropped out or they hung up on you trying to transfer you to another person, who then goes through the same 15 mintues script.
*ChOptus: From when they were rolling out their network, I was working in Data Comms support for a large Bank & whenever we lost a connection, it was often Optus cutting the Telstra line when they were putting their lines down. Hence the name ChOptus was born.
Your customer service is so bad now its not worth ringing anymore! Every person that answers is Indian and I feel like I am being scammed!
I have just been asked to pay $2 with credit card details for Optus to answer my question, all I wanted was to find out how to upgrade my plan because I was told they no longer support my old plan so have stopped providing me with signal. I am switching to another provider that gives decent customer service.
I spent a whole afternoon on phone to get my issues sorted out. I talked with 6 people in total, but none of them can fix it……I’m moving back to Vodafone. Don’t waste time with Optus, you will always find a better provider easily.
Disappointing download and upload speed. No connection in rural Melbourne.No human assistance, just automated message. Seriously, never choose Optus!
